How to convert your WordPress site from http to https for SSL Certificates

Review: Really Simple SSL

Really Simple SSL will automatically redirect any unsecure URLs (http) on your WordPress site to the new SSL domain (https).

Problem We Faced

Recently, Google has been making the push for people to start securing their sites with SSL Certificates. The Chrome browser is now showing http sites as “Not Secure”.

After installing the SSL certificate, some mixed media content was still listed as http and would cause the site to still show as not secure.

The Solution

Install Really Simple SSL to convert all content on your site from http to https. This plugin does a good job of taking the guess work out of the process and with the click of a button, the site is converted. You’ll see the “secure” padlock show to the left of the URL. This plugin will make significant changes to your database, so make sure you have a solid backup before making any updates.

What We Didn’t Like

While this plugin works like a charm on the majority of web hosts, there are a few we’ve found that don’t recommend using this plugin. The big one being WP Engine.
